Podcast #1: "A Gamecock Odyssey"

University of South Carolina (USC) Sports History Interview w/ author Alan Piercy

I was thrilled to interview author Alan Piercy on his new book "A Gamecock Odyssey: University of South Carolina Sports in the Independent Era"!

As we get excited for football season ahead, join me as I interview author Alan Piercy about the history of University of South Carolina Sports through his new book “A Gamecock Odyssey.” Alan was one of the earliest supporters of the SC History Newsletter, and I was so excited to finally meet him (albeit digitally)! In our interview, we discussed the many fascinating elements & eras of USC Sports — from the early days, to the modernization of the university’s sports complexes, to why USC left the ACC and how it got to the SEC conference, iconic mascots and coaches, the history of fan traditions, and so much more. Enjoy!
