Hello friends!
I want to first apologize that I was not able to send out a newsletter this past Monday. Hurricane Helene hit Greenville, SC really hard and our family was without power for 5 days. Thankfully, our home was not damaged and we had food, water, gas, and the basic necessities. And last night, we regained power — huzzah!
I hope our subscribers who live in the South have stayed safe in the aftermath of this disaster. Please let us know if we can help in any way. We are keeping everyone who has been affected by the hurricane in our thoughts and prayers!
While Greenville is coping with significant damage, I am even more heartbroken by the images coming out of North Carolina. If you feel compelled to give to relief efforts, I have found this article from Blue Ridge Public Radio with verified local aid organizations and charities that are working hard to help those in need in North Carolina.
Interestingly, since we are a newsletter about South Carolina history, Hurricane Helene will certainly be entering our history books and may find its way into our newsletter once again soon.
We will recommence the newsletter next Monday, October 7th.
Sending ALL my best wishes to everyone and I hope everyone continues to stay safe as our region heals!
Kate
